Thoughts

Bhaji uncle was the first uncle I had in my life, a special uncle to me. I have so many memories over the years and the recent ones which I will cherish. Family meant so much to uncle, it was so beautiful to see and I will do my best uncle to support your family. Though you are not with us anymore, we will keep you alive in our memories and our talks. Driving around with my mum today we took the opportunity to reminisce and share some fond memories. More her than me, I was asking the questions and she was recollecting the good old days. My dad (Balbir Maini) was apparently super excited on hearing Bhaji was coming to London for a visit, and then talked him into staying back in 1972! We remember our weekend outings and trips to random places, and the laughter and noise from the parents with the dads playing thaash and the mums nattering away, while we worked up a sweat running up and down stairs and then made swimming pools out of cardboard boxes in bedrooms to cool off. There are just so many memories. Bhaji uncle stuck with my dad through thick and thin, like the old school kind of best friends do. He was always there for us as a family and we respected him greatly for this, and his always jolly mood and humorous nature. Laughter was never far away when Bhaji uncle was around and I think that’s what my dad was so fond of! They both enjoyed each other’s company immensely and I’m sure are having a giggle over something being reunited. My mum shared many stories with me today, too many to go into here, but will be great to do so with the family soon. RIP Bhaji uncle, sorely missed, never forgotten. Love, Kikku
